Seattle JazzED is a non-profit music education organization in the Central District/Madison Valley. We’re dedicated to creating awesome opportunities for kids. Over 1300 students from 100+ schools come through our doors annually. You pay-what-you-can for any Seattle JazzED program, with free instrument loan assistance. GIRLS JAZZ DAY - SUNDAY, SEPT 29 Join us for this one day workshop, 100% dedicated to girls who play music. You'll be surrounded by kind and supportive girls who care about music. You will learn and be inspired by top female jazz educators. Grades 6-12, all instruments (including strings and voice). Service hours for grades 10-12. Sliding scale fee, including FREE option. More info at COLLEGE SUMMIT + AUDITION WORKSHOP - SATURDAY, OCT 26 Bellevue College Jazz Band director Jim Sisko will demystify the college audition experience for you. Learn how to set yourself apart from the competition, prepare for recorded and live auditions, and select the school that's right for you. Parents welcome! Grades 9-12, all instruments and voice. Whatever musical level you’re at, there’s a Fall Jazz Club for you. Grades 4-12 with 1-2 years of playing experience (and singers!). More info at JAZZED ENSEMBLES PLACEMENTS – SAT, NOV 16 & SUN, NOV 17 Play and perform in JazzED Big Bands under legendary local educators likeClarence Acox, Wayne Horvitz, Deb Schaaf, alongside dedicated students from the Seattle region. Advanced players looking for something different will want to try the New Works Ensemble with Wayne Horvitz. String players welcome in the JazzED Youth Orchestra. As Nina Simone was known to do, we bring together a broad range of styles, but are always steeped in gospel and folk traditions. Directed by Shaina Shepherd, this soulful group uses harmony to explore American roots music. Grades 7-12. Sliding scale tuition. Rehearse Jan-May 2020. Be part of building a groove-based drumline on brand new Yamaha drums with director Tony Sodano (Seahawks Blue Thunder Drumline). FUN is the operative word. We’ll be making the crowd move!
